Bell AH-1 Cobra

Intended to provide the U.S. Army with an armed helicopter suitable for close-support/attack roles, the AH-1 featured a narrow, low-profile, tandem-seat fuselage using the already proven rotor, transmission and powerplant of the UH-1 Iroquois or "Huey".

First flown in 1965, production Cobras were in service by 1967 and saw extensive use in Vietnam.
