Built
to an Imperial Japanese Navy 1938 requirement for an interceptor,
the prototype J2M1 Raiden (Thunderbolt) first flew in
1942. An underpowered engine and other developmental problems
delayed operational service until 1944.
The allies gave the Raiden the codename "Jack". Mitsubishi built 476 of all versions. |
