The
Boeing 80 was designed in response to increased demand on
Boeing Air Transport's San Francisco-Chicago route. First
flown in August 1928, it differed from its monoplane contemporaries
(the Ford and Fokker Trimotors) in order to reduce landing speeds at
the high-altitude airports on this route.
The model 80 stayed in service until 1933 when it was replaced by the Boeing Model 247. |
