The B&W was the first aircraft designed and built by William Boeing.  Working with Cmdr Conrad Westerveld (USN), Boeing based the B&W on the Martin T.A. trainer, most importantly with an improved wing and twin-pontoon.  The first flight was made by Boeing on 15 June 1916.

Two B&Ws were built.  Both were sold to the New Zealand government.
