First
flown in 1929, the Fleet 2 sold well in the civil market, was
purchased by the U.S. Army as the PT-6 primary trainer and
the U.S. Navy as the N2Y. Modified with a hook to
attach to an airship trapeze, the Navy used this aircraft to train Curtiss F9C Sparrowhawk pilots.
The Fleet 2
was also used as a trainer by the RCAF and Argentina.
Paul Mantz used a Fleet 2 to set a record of 46 outside loops in 1930. Over 200 were built. |
