Folland
Aircraft is probably best known for its post-war light jet
fighter aircraft. The company was another victim of the
government enforced mergers in the early 1960's.
History
1936: British Marine Aircraft is
formed to build the Sikorsky S-42 flying boat under license.
1937: The company reorganizes under H.P.
Folland of Gloster Aircraft and is renamed Folland Aircraft.
1940: Folland's first aircraft, the FO.108,
is designed as an engine testbed.
1960: Folland is taken over by Hawker
Siddeley as its Hamble Division.
