          The Government
Aircraft Factory (GAF) was created in 1946 from the former
Department of Aircraft Production (DAP).  In the main, both the
DAP and GAF produced aircraft under license from European and
American aircraft companies.  The Nomad is a notable exception.
The GAF became Aerospace Technologies Australia
(ASTA) in 1987.  ASTA was sold by the Australian government to Rockwell
            International in 1995. |
