Handley
Page Ltd was formed by Frederick Handley Page in 1909. The
firm's most famous aircraft from World War I was the O/400
"Bloody Paralyzer" bomber.
Handley Page continued to design and build
excellent bombers and transports through World War II and into the
post-war years including the Hampton and Halifax bombers.
In the mid-1960s, the British Government decreed
that it would not do business with aviation firms that did not
merge. Handley Page had no interest in a forced merger and
closed its doors in 1970.
