The
two-seat Model 269 first flew in 1956 with five
pre-production examples going to the U.S. Army as the YHO-2.
Eventually the Army purchased almost 800 269s designated the TH-55
Osage for use as helicopter trainers. Civil
production began in 1961.
The designation of this helicopter was later
changed to the Model 200 for the two-seat version and the Model
300 for the three-seat version. The rights to this family
of helicopters was sold to Schweizer Aircraft in 1983. Over
3,000 were built. |
