The Luscombe
Airplane Company was known for its well built general aviation
aircraft and was an early adopter of all metal aircraft for the
general market. A glut of war surplus light aircraft after
World War II forced the company into bankruptcy.
History
1933: Donald A Luscombe founds
the Luscombe Airplane Company
1939: Donald Luscombe edged out of company
after public stock offering.
1945: Production resumes with models 8A,
8D, 8E, 8F, T8F and 11A.
1950: Acquired by TEMCO.
1954: Acquired by Silvaire Aircraft and
Uranium Corp.
1994: ATCs acquired by Don Luscombe Aviation
History Foundation (DLAHF)
2004: The
Luscombe Endowment replaces many of the services provided by the
Luscombe Foundation.
