Naval
Aircraft Factory N3N
|
|
|
Designed
by the U.S. Navy Bureau of Aeronautics, the prototype XN3N-1 first
flew in August 1935. Used as a trainer, almost all N3Ns were
surplused at the end of World War II except for a few floatplanes
which remained in service at the U.S. Naval Academy until 1961.
The N3N acquired the nickname "Yellow
Peril" for its all yellow paint scheme when in U.S. Navy
training service. |
