Antonov An-2 (Colt)

Oleg Antonov worked as a designer in the Yakovlev bureau during World War II.  After the war he formed his own bureau to design a new "do anything, go anywhere" aircraft resulting in the An-2.  The prototype first flew in 1947.

The An-2 was built under license in Poland and China.  Production from all three sources is estimated at 15,000.

"Colt" is the NATO code name for the An-2.
