Junkers Ju 52/3m

The prototype Ju 52/3m was derived from the single engine Ju 52 and first flew in 1931.  By the end of 1935 97 were in airline use.

The Ju 52/3m saw use in the Spanish Civil War, first as a transport then as a bomber.  The type saw extensive use by the Luftwaffe as a transport and airborne troop carrier.  When production ended in 1944 over 5,000 had been built.

After the war, the French built more than 400 for Air France and the air force.  CASA built 170 for the Spanish air force under the designation CASA 352.
