Piper PA-25 Pawnee

The Piper Company developed the PA-25 Pawnee after modified PA-18s demonstrated the viability of the agricultural market.  Design features, including the elevated cockpit, were intended to reduce the likelihood of an accident and increase the chance of surviving a low-speed crash.

The Pawnee first flew in 1957.  When production ended in 1982 about 5,000 had been built.
