Introduced
in 1948, The
Cessna 170 was a stretched Model 140 to make room for four.
Then, in 1956, Cessna changed the 170 to a tricycle
landing gear configuration re-designating the aircraft the 172. A deluxe version was named the
Skyhawk. By the time production of the 172 ceased in the mid
1980s over 30,000 of the series had been built making it the most widely produced light aircraft in
history. |
