After the success of the piston-engined Provost, Hunting decided to develop a turbine powered trainer. First flown in 1954, the Jet Provost remained the RAF's basic trainer until the early 1990s. Jet Provosts were also |
produced
by the British Aircraft Corp after the companies were merged.
A light attack version named Strikemaster first flew in 1967. |
