The British
Aircraft Corp (BAC) was formed because the British government
demanded that the TSR.2 attack bomber would only be purchased from a
merged group of then existing aircraft companies. The company
ended by the nationalization of the aerospace industry.
History
1960: The British Aircraft Corp (BAC) is
formed by merging Bristol, English
Electric and Vickers. BAC also
acquires controlling interest in Hunting
Aircraft.
1965: The TSR.2 contract is terminated and
Hunting Aircraft is closed.
1977: BAC is merged into British
Aerospace by the nationalization of the aerospace industry.
