In 1967, Clayton
Stephens designed a built the Akro, a mid-wing aerobatic
monoplane and started marketing homebuilder plans.
In 1972 he moved his business from San Bernardino
to Rubidoux, California. The rights to sell plans was acquired
by Garry Zimmerman of Arvada, Colorado in 1977.
