Using
a Stinson design acquired in 1948, Piper introduced its first
production twin-engined, four-place executive aircraft in
1954. The prototype first flew in 1952. 2,200 Apaches
were produced through 1958.
In 1960, Piper upgraded the Apache with more
powerful engines and a swept vertical tail. The new aircraft
was named Aztec. Over 4,800 Aztecs were built. |
