The Texas
Engineering & Manufacturing Company (TEMCO) of Dallas, Texas was
founded in 1945 and participated in the production of the Globe GC-1
Swift. The company focused on potential military trainers
based on the Swift until merged with Ling Electronics.
1945: The Texas Engineering &
Manufacturing Company is formed.
1947: TEMCO takes over the rights to the
Swift when Globe Aircraft failed.
1950: TEMCO acquires Luscombe.
1959: TEMCO merges with Ling Electronics to
become Ling-Temco Electronics.
1961: Ling-Temco merges with Vought to
become Ling-Temco-Vought or LTV.
